Bacterial infection 'red flag' warning signs as Madonna's illness explained

Pop superstar Madonna is spending time in hospital after being rushed into ICU due to a "serious bacterial infection".

The singer was found unconscious in New York on Saturday before being rushed to hospital. Her family explained that they were "preparing for the worst" as Madonna was intubated for at least one night.

According to the 64-year-old's manager, the infection led to "a several day stay in the ICU". The global star's conditions is said to be improving, however, she remains under medical care in a hospital, according to reports.
