MUMBAI: Even though India lost the second ODI by three runs on Saturday at the Wankhede Stadium to lose yet another home ODI series to Australia, they would be happy with the way young wicketkeeper bat Richa Ghosh batted in the top order, scoring a fighting, career-best 96 off 117 balls, in a knock which included 13 fours, despite battling severe cramps.
In a much-talked about move, India promoted the talented batter, who has been used mostly as a finisher in the past, to the pivotal No 3 spot. Ghosh responded by producing a scintillating knock to almost take India to the 269-run target. Talking to the reporters post the second ODI, India's head coach Amol Muzumdar made it clear that the team management was looking to groom Richa at one down.
