Excited parents expecting to have to pick out a baby name in 2023 should take a look at some of the rarest options - as some will be the ones that become most popular in the near future, according to an expert.
Pamela Redmond, the founder of Nameberry, advised parents-to-be to keep their eye on names that are on the rise in popularity to see which ones will be most common down the line. "Names likely to rise on the Top 100 have had an upward trajectory for years and often fit a particular trend — either stylish sounds or a popular style like nature names, for example," she explained to The Mirror.
The expert added that if parents want to give their baby a name that sounds familiar but isn't as likely to be one that they share with schoolfriends in a few years' time, they should take a look further down the list of the most popular names between the 400-700 mark. However, Pamela has predicted that it's the names currently found outside the top 500 that will soon make a comeback - particularly those that can be shortened to nicknames.
