Baby dies after being airlifted to hospital from County Durham home as police investigate death

County Durham

A baby has died after being flown by air ambulance to hospital in an attempt to save the child's life.

Emergency services were called to a home in Chilton in the Ferryhill area of County Durham at around 2pm on Wednesday.

The infant was airlifted by paramedics to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle but died not long after arrival.
