The parents of a 15-month-old baby girl were told she had a urine infection when she was actually had sepsis.
Evie Crandle was just 15-months old when she became very lethargic and her lips turned blue. But despite parents Sam and Phil taking her to hospital, they were sent home with ibuprofen and Calpol.
With a temperature of 39.9C and a heartrate of over 200, Sam said she knew her first-born daughter was ill. When she asked nurses at Whiston hospital could it be sepsis, they said it was more likely a urine infection and so felt "reassured".
