A baby died after his mum was given an abortion pill in hospital when she was 30 weeks pregnant. The mum gave birth in a toilet after taking the medicine believing her baby was just 12 weeks old.
An inquest heard the mum, from East Yorkshire, had decided to legally abort the pregnancy on health grounds believing she was 12 weeks gone. But she was in fact 30 weeks pregnant when she was given the abortion pill at York Hospital.
She received the treatment on October 26 last year, but scans were either not carried out or were done erroneously. Evidence was heard during an inquest in Hull on Monday into the baby’s death, HullLive reports. No family were present and all the evidence heard was in written form.
