MUMBAI: The MBA's high-sticker price in contrast to its returns has seen candidates in elite Indian B-schools now take over a year, sometimes two, to return their debt.
Data collected from various sources and placement reports of the nation's top schools, and then ratified by each Indian Institute of Management (IIM) for TOI, shows the fee hike at institutes and the corresponding year's average compensation. At many campuses though, the annual average salary has not kept up. While the MBA promises students a bigger payday after they graduate, and the financial might to settle their debt, the skyrocketing expenses of tuition, housing and peripherals are leaving students with loans that will take more than a year to clear off.
