Shoppers were out early for the opening of a new B&Q store in a Nottinghamshire town centre. B&Q opened its newest 24,000sq. ft store on Thursday, April 27 at the Maltings Retail Park in Newark.
The store opened at 7am to a long queue of shoppers, with the first customer waiting since 5am for the store to open. The first 100 customers to spend £40 each received a free gift bag worth £50 which includes a wide variety of DIY goodies to help with their home improvement projects.
The staff gathered outside with Unit Manager for Newark, Troy Carrington, and cut the ribbon, officially opening the new store. Town Mayor, Councillor Laurence Goff, is expected to visit the store later today for an opening ceremony.
Troy and his team of 28 colleagues were on hand at the opening day on Thursday, April 27.
Troy said: “We launched this morning at 7am. It’s been exciting launching a new store, it’s been challenging in places but equally rewarding. We have range for 11,000 products in store, we have got a couple of service points in store, we have got the paint desk where we can mix up up to 2 million colours and you can bring your own swatches in and we can get it 99.9% accurate.
"We have also got a timber saw so we can cut your timber to size. We have also got a planning area where we can design your dream bedroom and bathroom."
He continued: " On show we have got four kitchens, three bathrooms and a bedroom display. We can do online appointment bookers and that will run from 8 o’clock in the morning until 8 o’clock at night so come and see our experts.
"We have a great range of flowers here, we’ve got turf, we’ve got compost, we’ve got paving, decking, timber. Every product to complete your project outside."
