B&Q selling plant that banishes mould and condensation in your home for just £7

B&Q are selling a plant which can keep mould at bay from your home this winter.

The DIY giant has added Peace Lilies to its vast stock selection and it costs just £7. The tropical plant, which can go for as much as £40 from some retailers, is known for its ability to absorb moisture through its leaves that could otherwise dampen your home.

Mould occurs when high levels of warm moisture in the air come into contact with cooler surfaces. The issue affects thousands of homes across the UK, particularly those that are poorly insulated and in bathrooms that see high levels of moisture due to shower and bath steam.

Affected areas can grow mould, making them unsightly and according to the NHS, it can even cause health problems. Inhaling mould spores can spark an allergic reaction resulting in sneezing, coughing and runny eyes and can also cause asthma attacks in sufferers.

As well as being air-purifying, Peace Lilies also have a beautiful flower that requires very little sunlight, meaning they can survive in any part of the home, even in rooms without windows.

Households that are looking to add a Peace Lily to their decor will be happy to hear that B&Q stock different sizes that vary in price. B&Q's £7 plant comes in a 12cm plastic pot, while a 17cm costs £15 and 21cm is priced at £22.

The retailer also stock's the plant in a 14cm white ceramic pot which costs £12. All plants are available to buy online or in-store, though it is worth checking to see if your branch has it in stock.

The prices mentioned do not include delivery charges, so it is important to remember this if you order online. You can find your nearest B&Q through their store finder service here.

Other plants which are known to prevent mould include palm plants and English Ivy.
