B&M makes huge change to its website - and shoppers won't like it

B&M has scrapped the home delivery option on its main website in a blow for shoppers ordering bulky items online.

The budget retailer started trialling home delivery in June 2022 on products that were hard for customers to transport home from stores.

Eventually, some 1,000 products across toys, electricals, garden furniture and bedding were made available to order.

But trade publication Retail Week reports that B&M pulled the plug on its delivery trial in February this year.

When The Mirror checked today, the B&M website no longer featured options for home delivery.

It means anyone looking to order large home products, such as a sofa or wardrobe, will have to find a way to get it home themselves.

Previously, anything that could be bought online had an orange van logo next to it.

Meanwhile, a separate site called B&M Garden Buildings does have delivery options available - but only on garden items including sheds, greenhouses, decking and furniture.

Fencing and decking orders under £200 are charged £24.99 for delivery, while free delivery is offered on these types of products over £200.

Sheds can be shipped for free with standard delivery, or £15.99 for express delivery.

Customers have been commenting on social media about the disappearance of online delivery on the main B&M website.

One person asked: “Have you stopped doing home delivery as I can’t buy online like I did a few weeks ago?”

Another questioned: “Have you stopped your delivery service?”

A third said: “Online it says you do home delivery but I can’t see an option for that?”

B&M chief executive Alex Russo told Retail Week: “Despite the challenging macroeconomic environment, we will continue to work hard to help both existing and new customers manage the cost-of-living crisis.”

The news comes as B&M plans to open a handful of new stores over the coming weeks.

The discounter will be opening three brand new stores in April and May, along with three that will be relaunched following major refurbishments.

The locations of the three new stores includeWidnes in Cheshire, Fforestfach in Swansea and Fazakerley in Merseyside.

Meanwhile, the revamped sites are located in the Riverside Retail Park site in Fife, Lonsdale Road in Armagh and a "major refit" at the Jarrow store.

But the discount store closed three of its sites in March and will close another in April.

B&M currently has over 700 stores across the UK.
