A major Ayrshire road remains closed after a horror smash this morning.
A three mile stretch between Ayr and Coylton is completely locked down after the serious crash.
Pictures from the scene have shown a van and an Audi TT both severely damaged in the crash on the A70 near Holmston Roundabout, Ayr.
Debris can be seen sprawled across the road as road cops probing the horrific collision assess the damage.
Shocking images from the scene show a white van ploughed into a hedge, with the Audi seen with its entire front-right section caved in and missing a side door, the van's side is also damaged.
Emergency services were still on site as off 9am this morning after racing to the crash site after reports were made first made at 5.55am.
Police took the decision to shut down the road this morning.
Mourners looking to access the Crematorium for a funeral service have been able to access to the A70 from Holmston Roundabout with the road closed off to any other motorists.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Emergency services are in attendance following a serious crash on the A70 westbound near Ayr, which was reported around 5.55am on Friday, 28 October, 2022.
"The road is closed between Holmston Roundabout and Coylton. Local diversions are in place.
"Only members of the public travelling to Masonhill Crematorium for a service can travel via the A70 at Holmston Roundabout."
