An Ayrshire woman and a running group have been recognised for their efforts in helping people to put their best foot forward towards fitness.
Rachel Cox, of the Monkton Milers, and the Killie Striders, were commended in this year’s jogscotland annual awards.
The bash took place in Glasgow - with Rachel Cox, of Troon, winning the Jog Leader of the Year prize - and the Killie Striders winning the Group of the Year award.
Development officer for jogscotland, Jo Stevens, said: “Rachel is a wonderful jog leader. She brings compassion and humour to the role, making her joggers feel secure and supported so they can push themselves to achieve more than they might have thought possible.
“She supports her joggers from their very first running steps all the way to taking part in a whole range of races, creating the kind of atmosphere that helps people to change their lives for the better.
“She’s supported many jogscotland initiatives, such as our Menopause Friendly campaign, to make our groups more welcoming for joggers at that time of life.
“She also takes part in many of the learning opportunities we offer jog leaders and always looks to be the best jog leader she can be, and we’re so pleased to recognise all her hard work.”
The Killie Striders were also praised for their sterling work in the community.
Jo Stevens said: “We’re also very pleased to celebrate the work of Killie Striders by making them our jogscotland Group of the Year.
“The group has grown rapidly over the past year, under the guidance of jog leader Rosie McGrane, but has maintained the friendly atmosphere that makes sure joggers always feel supported.
“They really epitomise the jogscotland approach, helping inactive people really enjoy their first steps towards a more active lifestyle.
“The more experienced runners cheer on the newer members, and achievements are celebrated at every level, whether that’s running for one minute for the first time, or completing a marathon. Congratulations to them all.”
