A talented Ayrshire chef is on the cusp of MasterChef glory after reaching finals week.
Sagar Massey said it was a 'dream come true' to enter the fierce cooking show and show off his skills.
Now the 23-year-old from Paisley, Renfrewshire has the chance to make history as he enters final week.
The senior sous-chef currently works at Troon's newly reimagined Marine Hotel restaurant, dubbed The Rabbit.
But the ambitious cook has swapped the coastal kitchen for the heat of the MasterChef arena, impressing judges including Michelin-star chef Marcus Wareing.
Originally from New-Dehli, the chef honed his skills at West College Scotland before making the move to Johstone.
And Sagar has set his sights on ambitions to one day open up his own fine dining restaurant.
Sagar said: “I’m working at The Rabbit restaurant at the Marine Hotel, Troon and enjoying cooking more of my own food and in my style.
"Soon, I’d like to host a few pop-ups around the UK to share my food, showcasing my heritage. But one day, I’d like to own my own fine dining restaurant serving Indian-inspired dishes using Scottish produce. If I can, I’d love to open a restaurant in India too."
Sagar will go up against five other hopefuls this week in a cooking showdown.
Speaking ahead of the final week, Sagar added: "For me, MasterChef: The Professionals is the biggest culinary challenge I could take on.
"It’s the top competition in the UK.
"I’ve watched the programme for years and I’ve seen how successful previous contestants have become and I wanted to experience this competition for myself. I wanted to test my skill level as well and get feedback on my cooking style from the culinary masters–the judges.
"I’m very excited and feel proud of myself for getting this far. It’s a dream come true to be part of the competition and to get to The Finals is amazing. I can’t wait to cook for the chefs and share my own style, inspiration and heritage in my dishes."
You can watch Sagar in the final starting tonight on BBC ONE at 8pm.
