Ambitious Ayr United have launched a drive to boost season ticket sales at Somerset Park.
Club chiefs are targeting an upsurge of around 25 per cent on last year’s numbers as part of their ‘Project 1500’ campaign.
Bosses believe they can get a bounce from United’s positive new vision and recently announced stadium plans.
And they insist the community can come with them on the journey as Lee Bullen’s men limber up for the start of the new season.
Managing director, Graeme Mathie, told the Ayrshire Post: “We shared a vision that says we want to set out ambitious goals across the club, and increasing the number of season tickets to 1500 is definitely ambitious.
“But we also want to be a club that engages with its local community and there’s no reason why Ayr United can’t increase its core supporter base significantly in the coming years.
“Our season ticket stories in recent weeks have focused on long term supporters who have had season tickets for a number of years.
“This week’s will focus on generous local people and businesses who have donated season tickets to those who can’t afford them.
“We’re on a journey now to inspire the town and we’d love the community to get behind the team for the coming season.”
Ayr, who have sold around 800 season cards so far, added a fifth new face of the summer yesterday with the addition of former Derby and Swindon winger Jayden Mitchell-Lawson.
And they continued their unbeaten start to pre-season with a 3-0 win over Darvel last night.
Dipo Akinyemi hit a brace to get off the mark in a United shirt, while Andy Murdoch was also on target.
The Honest Men are in action again tomorrow lunchtime (Thursday) at Cumnock’s Townhead Park against the University of Washington – kick off 1pm.
The game is free to enter for the public.
