Large parts of Ayr's Station Hotel are today lying open to the elements after storms battered the town.
High winds which swept in last night have ripped through the protective dome around the building.
Council chiefs are spending £64,000 per month on the safety measures to stop the hotel from falling down.
But for the third time in little over a year, large holes have been blown in the sheeting.
Both the north and south end of the building have been left exposed today after winds blew off the cover to the scaffolding.
Storms have also left the front of the iconic hotel in full view.
A council spokesperson said: "Following storm damage to the encapsulation outer material at the weekend, the contractor has been on site and carried out a full check of the structure and removed any loose material.
"In light of the damage to the high level gable sections, repair work has been instructed and this work will commence as soon as practical."
