Concert promoters secretly pulled the plug on two huge Ayr gigs more than a month ago, Ayrshire Live can reveal.
Organisers staging a two night bash at the Old Racecourse had planned to headline the event with crooners Michael Ball and Alfie Boe.
A 26-piece 'Ibiza Orchestra Experience' was also set to take to the stage as part of the extravaganza next weekend.
We told yesterday how stunned ticket holders have started to receive word that both gigs have been binned.
But it can now be revealed that both events were actually canned way back on May 25.
Top priced briefs for the Ball & Boe concert were trading at more than £100 as the duo prepared to make Ayr a key stop on their summer tour.
But bosses at South Ayrshire Council, who were leasing the land for the event, have confirmed they received notice of cancellation five weeks ago.
Yet promoters, The Liz Hobbs Group, continued to push both gigs and sell tickets until the plug was publicly pulled yesterday.
Amy Fowler was among those to purchase tickets for the Ibiza event on Saturday, July 9 and told Ayrshire Live how she has been left around £300 out of pocket.
She hit out: "The first thing I knew about any cancellation was a four word post on the event's Facebook page which said 'cancelled by the promoters'.
"The post itself was so unprofessional and trying to track anyone down for an answer on refunds is proving really difficult.
"A few hours later they took the page down and then it reappeared again...the whole thing is just a huge worry and made me fear I'd been scammed."
Another fan, who splashed out for the Ball & Boe night, said: "I paid £250 for my tickets and hadn't heard a word until yesterday afternoon.
"I did find it very odd that they weren't bothering to promote the event and to hear now that it's actually been cancelled for weeks while people still buy tickets is shocking."
A spokesperson for South Ayrshire Council confirmed: "We were advised by the promoter on May 25 that they were cancelling both events."
The Liz Hobbs Group did not respond to our repeated requests to comment.
