Ayr basement bar is 'best in the West' for second year in a row

An Ayr bar has been hailed the 'best in the West' for the second year running.

The Smoking Goat Bar & Grill triumphed at The Scottish Entertainment & Hospitality Awards last week as they won the top title for best ‘Independent Bar in the West’.

The basement bar and grill - best known for creative cocktails, finger-licking food and a weekly line up of top entertainment - also received a ‘Highly Recommended’ in the ‘Best Gastro Pub’ category.

The Smoking Goat bosses praised “incredible staff” and “lovely customers” for helping them take the trophy home.

Shared alongside a video of boss David Storrie and the team accepting the award, a post on their Facebook page read: “We did it! For the second year in a row, The Smoking Goat is your Best Independent Bar in the West of Scotland!

“Also picking up highly recommended in Best Gastro Pub.

“Thank you to our incredible staff who work so hard to make The Smoking Goat the best place to visit, we couldn’t have done this without your hard work.

“And a big thank you to our lovely customers! Without you, we wouldn’t be where we are today!

“Much love everyone and here’s to another year being the best.”

Prior to the welcoming win, boss David said: “It’s been an incredible year yet again for the Goat and it’s fantastic to see our team recognised for the efforts they put in every single week in an industry still trying to overcome some major hurdles.”
