An Ayr bar has launched a probe after a customer was filmed whilst sending a private text.
Crumbs & Cocktails boss Ashley Nicholson says the Smith Street venue is holding a thorough in-house investigation after allegations of a serious breach of privacy were raised.
A video emerged on social media appearing to show a customer in the bar who was filmed from behind.
The customer is seen sending a text of a sexual a nature with the camera zoomed in to the specific details of the message.
The video was allegedly taken by a member of staff last week, who shared the footage attaching laughing emojis, and appeared to reveal details of a private conversation.
Concerned boss Ashley says she will now take relevant steps if a breach of privacy has occurred.
Ashley said: “After Ayrshire Live raised concerns regarding a screengrab that was sent by a member of the public, we would like to assure our customers that their privacy is taken very seriously and we do not condone this sort of behaviour.”
Ashley, who has run the bar for nine years, says she was unable to locate the original video and social media page it was shared on.
A source told Ayrshire Live they had witnessed the video being published on a Facebook page last weekend.
“I think you will agree that the following should be public knowledge that a member of staff has publicly posted a video on her Facebook page of a customer sending private messages during her working hours," the source said.
“I believe this is misconduct, a breach of confidentiality and, more so, a massive violation of privacy, also totally abusing their job role by publicly humiliating a customer.”
