Ayo Edebiri's past insults about Jennifer Lopez's career resurface

Jennifer Lopez looking pretty

During a recent episode of the podcast 'Scam Goddess,' Ayo Edebiri, known for her role on the show 'The Bear,' made some controversial comments about Jennifer Lopez's career. Edebiri stated that she believed Lopez's entire career was 'one long scam' and questioned her singing abilities. These remarks have resurfaced and may make for an awkward situation when Edebiri hosts Saturday Night Live alongside Lopez, who will be the musical guest for the evening.

In the podcast episode, Edebiri discussed Linda Taylor's welfare scam and brought up Lopez in the conversation. She expressed her fascination with songs that allegedly feature other artists' vocals instead of Lopez's own. Edebiri claimed that she had read write-ups of these songs mentioning that Lopez didn't have time to make it to the studio, questioning what Lopez was busy with if not singing.

Fast forward to the present, and Edebiri finds herself sharing the SNL stage with Lopez. In a promotional teaser for the show, Lopez expressed her excitement, saying she loves Edebiri's show. Edebiri responded by saying she loves everything about Lopez. Neither Lopez nor Edebiri have addressed the comments made during the podcast.

Despite the controversy, Edebiri has made significant strides in her career. She recently won an Emmy for her role on 'The Bear,' for which she expressed immense gratitude during her acceptance speech, acknowledging her family's support. While Edebiri has received praise for her achievements, she has also faced backlash for her candid movie reviews on the website Letterboxd. However, she has dismissed these criticisms, stating that her comments were all in good fun and that she respects the efforts put into creating films and television shows.

It remains to be seen how the interaction between Edebiri and Lopez will unfold during the Saturday Night Live episode. Given Edebiri's success and recognition in the industry, it is clear that she has a passion for her craft. Hopefully, this unexpected situation will provide an opportunity for both artists to engage in meaningful discussions and showcase their talent on a memorable SNL episode.
