Avanti services between Scotland and England face disruption after power outage

TRAINS between Glasgow and several cities in England are facing disruption due to a power outage.

Rail operator Avanti has warned passengers that trains to and from Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Piccadilly are facing cancellations or delay due to the incident.

Trains to London may also be impacted due to passing the disrupted area.

Users have been urged to check their journey status on the operator's website, but this appears to have crashed.

Tickets are valid for the two services before the cancelled train and the one following its scheduled departure. A full refund can be requested, the operator has said.

Other operators, including the East Midlands Railway, Northern and TransPennine Express, are also facing disruption.

National Rail confirmed the disruption at around 2.18pm, saying the incident has been caused by an electricity supply failure at one of its communication centres. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
