‘Avalanche’ of child abuse and exploitation taking place in private – study

Children face an “avalanche” of sexual exploitation and abuse behind closed doors, a study by Scottish researchers has found.

A wide-ranging analysis of population-based surveys suggested 7% of children across Western Europe are raped or sexually assaulted before they turn 18.
