Less than a lap-and-a-half separated Nick Cassidy from a maiden and deserved Formula E title, but he instead ended up third after snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
The Kiwi hit the ground running upon joining Jaguar’s works team, taking three podiums from the off including victory in Jeddah. Another podium streak and another win in Berlin put Cassidy on the cusp of the title, but spinning from the lead in Portland set things in motion.
He claimed his only pole when it mattered most for the London finale and was in prime position before being blamelessly taken out.
