Autosport Podcast: F1 Miami Grand Prix Review

The Florida city welcomed F1 with open arms to its all-new Miami International Autodrome street circuit, constructed around the Miami Dolphins NFL team’s Hard Rock Stadium, that even featured a fake marina.

F1’s first visit to Miami created plenty of hype pre-event and it resulted in a bumper crowd witnessing Verstappen overhaul polesitter Leclerc, in a race spiced up by a late safety car, after a collision between AlphaTauri’s Pierre Gasly and McLaren’s Lando Norris.

Energised by the stoppage, Leclerc launched an attack on Verstappen putting the world champion under pressure for the final laps before pulling away to victory.

Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz managed to hold off a down on power Sergio Perez to secure the final podium spot, while George Russell charged from 12th to fifth, taking advantage of the safety car and fresher tyres to leapfrog team-mate Lewis Hamilton.

Join Autosport’s F1 reporter Luke Smith, GP Racing’s Stuart Codling and Motorsport Network’s Jess McFadyen, who all made the trip stateside, as they dissect F1’s first Miami Grand Prix with host Martyn Lee.

The trio analyse the track action and and how the event stacked up against other F1 races on the calendar, and if it lived up to the hype.
