Autographed, game-worn Air Jordans sell for $2.24 million

There’s a new high mark for sneakerheads. A pair of Air Jordans worn by Michael Jordan in Game 2 of the 1998 NBA Finals sold Tuesday for $2.238 million, the most ever paid for a pair of shoes. That tops the previous record, which was also for a pair of Air Jordans, of $1.47 million in 2021.

It’s an outrageous amount for a pair of shoes, but it actually fell short of the high end of Sotheby’s expectations. The autographed Air Jordan XIIIs had been estimated to sell for between $2 million and $4 million.
