‘Autism is not a crime’: Woman claims Starbucks staff threatened to call 911 because her autistic son was crying

The mother of an autistic child has accused Starbucks staff of refusing her service because her son was crying. The video, which appears to have been recorded in the coffee shop, shows two members of staff standing behind the counter as the mother berates them, asking for a reason as to why they won’t serve her while her child can be heard crying in the background.

The clip, originally posted to TikTok by Imaan Up, the mother of the child, has sparked outrage online. Imaan claims she posted it to raise awareness for the struggles autistic people and their families deal with in the real world. In the text in the video, she also claims that staff threatened to call 911 on her. She claims it was all because her autistic son was crying in the shop.
