A mum-of-two has revealed how ”relieved” she felt after receiving an autism diagnosis. She says that putting a name to her symptoms at the age of 40 made her realise "there’s nothing wrong with me".
Carrie Kearns says that she has struggled to fit in throughout her life and considered herself a loner. However, earlier this year things changed. She received a life-changing diagnosis of autism and the discovery explained the difficulties she has faced from childhood.
Talking to the Manchester Evening News, Carrie, for Bolton, said: “Ever since I was a child, I noticed I was different. I didn’t seem to be able to fit in with other children my age and I was always a bit of a loner playing out on my own; I was more interested in nature and playing with plants and bugs than the games my friends were playing.
