Authorities in South Carolina are actively searching for a missing 20-year-old woman from Pendleton, a small town located just 10 minutes from Clemson. Jessica Barnes was last seen leaving her home on August 1, and Pendleton police are seeking the public's assistance in locating her.
According to reports, Barnes' mother was the first to report her missing on September 10. Barnes lived with her husband and two 20-year-old female roommates in the same residence. Police Chief Robert Crosby mentioned that Barnes and her husband had been experiencing typical disagreements on the day she went missing.
On September 10, Barnes' mother received a message from Barnes' phone that seemed out of character, raising concerns about her whereabouts. Detectives are currently investigating leads to determine where Barnes may have gone after leaving her home. Crosby mentioned that Highway 28 runs through the town, making it possible for individuals to catch buses or hitch rides out of town.
Authorities have searched Barnes' residence, vehicles, and the Twin Lakes campground near Lake Hartwell, where she and her husband had previously camped and had bonfires. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is also involved in the investigation to help locate Barnes.
Barnes was last seen wearing an orange T-shirt, dark jean shorts, flip-flops, and carrying a black backpack. Police are exploring all possibilities, including social media activity and potential modes of transportation Barnes may have used to leave the area.
The community is urged to come forward with any information that may assist in locating Jessica Barnes and bringing her home safely.
