Austria manager Ralf Rangnick has confirmed that Bayern Munich have approached him regarding their soon-to-be vacant manager role. Rangnick, who will lead Austria at the upcoming European Championship, stated that he is uncertain about accepting the opportunity. He has informed the Austrian Football Association of Bayern's interest.
Thomas Tuchel is set to depart Bayern at the end of the season following a disappointing campaign that saw them lose the Bundesliga title after 11 consecutive wins. However, they are currently in the Champions League semifinals.
Rangnick expressed his focus on the Austrian national team, emphasizing his strong relationship with the team. He mentioned feeling content in his current role and stated that there is no immediate need to consider the Bayern offer extensively.
When asked about his readiness to contemplate the Bayern job, Rangnick indicated that it would depend on Bayern's formal offer and his personal interest in the position. He highlighted the importance of discussing any potential move with the Austrian FA.
Rangnick assumed the role of Austria coach in April 2022 after a brief interim coaching stint at Manchester United, where the team finished sixth in the Premier League. He has previously coached at various German clubs, including Schalke, Stuttgart, and RB Leipzig.
During his tenure with the national team, Rangnick has achieved notable victories against Germany and Italy. Austria has been drawn into a challenging group alongside France, the Netherlands, and Poland for the upcoming European Championship.
