Australian shares gain as miners rise, banks fall

The Australian share market has edged higher as the rotation continues from Australia's expensive retail banks to its cheaper major miners.

The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index on Tuesday finished up 9.0 points, or 0.1 per cent, to 8,677.2, while the broader All Ordinaries gained 15.3 points, or 0.17 per cent, to 8,941.5.
