An Australian field hockey team member was taken into custody for questioning in Paris on Tuesday, as confirmed by the Australian Olympic Committee on Wednesday.
According to the Paris prosecutor's office, the police apprehended an Australian man suspected of purchasing cocaine in central Paris. The individual, believed to be part of the Australian field hockey team, was detained along with the seller of the illegal substance.
Due to the quantity of cocaine seized during the operation, the case was transferred to the narcotics unit for further investigation, as stated by the prosecutor's office.
