Auston Trusty has been a shining light in a dull Birmingham City season - and he could be just the warrior Michael Beale needs in his Rangers defence.
Barry Ferguson - a former captain at Ibrox and player in the Midlands - knows all about the Arsenal loanee's credentials after a strong season for the St Andrews side. He joined Arsenal in 2022 after showing his promise in the MLS, and he is also capped at senior level by USA.
Birmingham City's season has ended with the club 17th in the Championship, but Trusty has been an ever-present during his 12-month loan. He has now been linked with a move to Rangers as part of Beale's imminent Light Blues revamp and Ferguson believes he would add a physical edge to the Ibrox defence. There's also a need to upgrade all areas of the squad, with the likes of Alfredo Morelos on the way out.
Ferguson told Go Radio: "A defender, he won Birmingham's Player of the Season at the awards ceremony a few days ago. He is a powerhouse at the back.
"I think Rangers need to strengthen every single area, have better competition for places. He is certainly a player they have been linked with.
"He's had a full season in the Premiership and that is a tough league to play in. He's stood out for Birmingham even though they've had a poor season."
