Aussie Wedding Stylist Puts Bride On Blast For Collaboration Request In Viral TikTok

Smack bang in the middle of a cozzie livs crisis, a wedding stylist has put a bride-to-be on blast after they asked for services in exchange for “exposure”.

If there’s one thing we all know about weddings, it’s that they usually cost an arm and a leg. And in this economy, folks have turned to DIY projects and microweddings to make their big days special.

For Danielle Huton, a wedding stylist who runs Til Death Events, a bride has pulled a bold move to cut wedding costs.

In a viral video, which currently has more than 1.4 million views, Huton shared an email she got from an “obsessed” client, asking for a “collaboration”.

“We can’t feed our families with exposure. Hope this helps!” Huton wrote in the caption of her video.

In the email, titled “Wedding Collab”, the unnamed bride gushed about Huton’s work, stating that she found out about her business through Instagram.

“First of all, I’m absolutely obsessed with your work,” the email began.

“As soon as I found your Instagram and knew you were the perfect fit for my wedding.”

The bride went on to say that they’re planning to have a “sit-down wedding with 100 guests and want our guests to be wowed when they walk in”.

“The only catch, we have a very limited budget. In spite of this, we are hoping to collab with photography, videography, a band and amazing styling,” the email continued.

“We know the economy isn’t great right now, so we were hoping you would be open to come on board as a collaboration for exposure. I have some great ideas, I think we get the wedding published, which would be a win-win for everyone.”

Internet reacts to bride’s ‘collaboration’ request

Shortly after the video went gangbusters on social media, many folks defended the wedding stylist and slammed the bride for the outrageous request.

“I want to collab with my landlord and phone company now,” one person wrote.

“I’m trying to figure out why they had to include that they got engaged in Italy in the same email where they’re asking for free services,” another penned.

“Mr and Mrs Audacity,” wrote a third.

Some folks also pointed out how odd it was for the bride to mention how tough the economy is before proceeding to ask for free services.

“‘Money is tight in this economy but he proposed on a dream vacation in Italy,’ girl,” one person commented.

“This is taking me out because she said, “I know the economy isn’t good right now,” and then proceeded to ask you to do your work for free,” another wrote.

Speaking to news.com.au, Hutton revealed that it’d been years since she’d copped a collaboration request. However, she used to receive a lot of requests on Instagram many moons ago.

“So people were more open to exposure collaborations back then, because it really was pretty effective for marketing a lot of brands,” she told the publication.

“These days, not so much. I think we sort of got to a point where we’re like, ‘Hey, you guys have money, and we know you’re getting paid now to be an influencer, so, you can just pay’. Then that exposure thing started to really drop off.”

Hutton also revealed that she’d worked with “high-profile” clients in the past, but they’ve all paid for her work.

“I’ve always been pretty firm with just charging what we charge. We are a business, and this is my full time job,” she added.

“It is a luxury service. You don’t have to have it, you don’t need to have it, but if you want us, you have to pay our fees.”

The stylist has yet to respond to the bonkers email, admitting that she was going to ignore the request. However, with the virality of her TikTok, she’s feeling a bit confident in informing the bride that this kind of request in this economy is not on.

And honestly, I’m rooting for her to call her OUT.
