Nicola Olyslagers has soared back to her world champion best at the Zurich Weltklasse meeting, but even the Australian high jump great was eclipsed on a spectacular night when two world records went crashing.
Alison dos Santos shattered the world mark in the men's 400 metres hurdles, delivering an extraordinary lap of power to clock a landmark 45.80 seconds, breaking the five-year old mark of 45.94 set by Karsten Warholm, who could only applaud the triumphant Brazilian as runner-up on the night.
If that wasn't enough, less than 40 minutes later at the Letzigrund Stadium on Thursday night (Friday AEST), American Masai Russell blazed to a world record in the women's 100m hurdles, clocking 12.09sec to eclipse the previous mark of 12.12 set by Tobi Amusan four years ago.
