Australian Jack Robinson has won back-to-back World Surf League titles, beating Brazilian Felipe Toledo on the buzzer in the Quiksilver Pro G-Land final.
After winning the Margaret River Pro last month, the 24-year-old West Australian clinched his third tour title in two years on the tour.
Robinson looked headed for defeat but paddled on to a wave in the final 10 seconds of the final, needing a score of 6.67 to trump the current men's ranking leader.
The wave was scored a 7.0, with Robinson slapping the water with delight with his two-wave tally of 13.50 pipping Toledo's 13.16.
The successive victories moved him into second in the rankings.
After lifting aloft the Tiger trophy Robinson said he was in a good head space.
"I'm just in a good space in my mind; I'm not expecting too much right now, just one by one and that was what I was like in this contest," Robinson said.
"I feel in a good place and I'm just staying focused."
The manner of the win was a repeat of semi-final performance against reigning world champion Gabriel Medina, who was making his return to competition after taking the early part of the season off.
Robinson launched onto a wave, with the buzzer sounding as he manoeuvred across the famed reef break, grabbing a barrel.
The wave scored 7.83 which was enough to eliminate Medina.
Another Australian Connor O'Leary was edged by Toledo in their semi-final.
Earlier, France's Johanne Defay won the Roxy Pro event which was first time female WSL surfers had competed at G-Land.
Defay triumphed against current world champion and rankings leader Carissa Moore, scoring 14.00 to the Hawaiian's 13.33.
Moore took over the rankings lead from Costa Rica's Brisa Hennessy with her runner-up performance.
Defay, who moved from eight to world No.3, had earlier eliminated Australian wildcard Bronte Macaulay in a tight semi-final.
Sally Fitzgibbons and Steph Gilmore bowed out in the quarter-finals.
The men hadn't surfed a tour event at G-Land since 1997, with another Australian Luke Egan winning that event.
