Edging closer to player of the year honours is the silver lining to another near miss for Australian golf superstar Minjee Lee.

Lee fell a shot short as Canadian Brooke M Henderson scored a popular home victory at the LPGA Tour's CPKC Women's Canadian Open in Ontario.

Henderson carded a final-round four-under-par 67 at Mississaugua Golf and Country Club after starting championship Sunday tied atop the leaderboard with Lee.
