An independent audio production company in Cardiff has been commissioned by BBC Radio 2 to produce its Early Breakfast Show with new presenter Owain Wyn Evans after the station put the strand out to tender.
Bengo Media won the contract following a competitive pitch process. It will produce the Monday to Friday 4-6.30am programme from the BBC Cymru Wales broadcast centre in Cardiff - making it the network's first weekday programme to broadcast beyond the London and Salford studios.
The move is part of the broadcaster’s 'Across The UK' plans - announced by the Director General in 2021 - in a bid to better represent all parts of the country. The show launches on Monday 13 February 2023 and marks the 100th anniversary of the national broadcaster in Wales.
