Audi towed away after Princes Parade parking fail

A car has been towed away after being badly parked on Princes Parade.

The Audi vehicle was stuck on the kerb overlooking the waterfront in the the city centre location. A towing company was photographed lifting the car from the steps earlier today.

Police cars were positioned at either end of Princes Parade as the Audi vehicle was being recovered. The driver of the car is set to be hit with a big fine as a yellow penalty notice was visible in the windscreen.

Illegal parking has been identified as a growing problem by Liverpool City Council. The council launched a clampdown in November last year after staff were issuing an average of 50 parking fines a night.

The city council said it was contacted by many people concerned about selfish and dangerous parking, largely in the city centre but elsewhere around Liverpool. On social media, the council said: "In response to complaints about pavement parking, our parking team have been out in recent weeks targeting illegally parked vehicles with fines.

"The team have been averaging more than 50 fines a night. Unsafe parking will not be tolerated."

The council included a number of images of cars parked either on pavements, in disabled bays or loading bays, which have now been issued fines.

Cllr Abdul Qadir is the cabinet member for neighbourhoods. He said: "We know pavement & illegal parking is of huge concern to residents & businesses across the city. We're tackling this behaviour head on. We won't stop this overnight but I hope my review of parking services will help make big inroads."
