An Audi driver smashed the car into a traffic light barrier outside the Etihad stadium in Manchester on Monday afternoon (January 23).
Police blocked off the scene after the crash, on Alan Turing Way (A6010), near to the stadium, at the junction with Gibbon Street and the McDonald's.
Pictures and video footage from the scene show the silver Audi badly damaged at the front, having appeared to have mounted the kerb and crashed into the metal barrier at the crossing in the centre of the typically busy main road.
Officers from Greater Manchester Police were present at the scene, with drivers narrowed down to one lane following the collision. Police also helped to direct drivers away from the area.
The vehicle was later recovered from the scene. It is not known if any arrests have been made in relation to the incident. Greater Manchester Police and the North West Ambulance Service have been approached for further details.
