Au Vodka, which hit the headlines for the fake tattoo it applied to social media star Jake Paul's arm, has now invited the people of Swansea to come along and have their own real one done - and they'll get paid handsomely for doing so.
People will be paid up to £250 if they have a tattoo of the brand's blue raspberry bottle. The company has said it will match the amount and donate another £250 to cancer charity Maggie's for each tattoo.
It comes after the publicity campaign which saw 26-year-old YouTube influencer Jake Paul appear to have the brand tattooed on his arm just days before his big fight with Tommy Fury, which he lost by split decision. It was said that he had been paid $250,000 for the privilege after being challenged by DJ Charlie Sloth, who is in partnership with Charlie Morgan and Jackson Quinn.
Fans expected to see the tattoo on show as he fought the brother of Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia, but were left confused when the arm where the tattoo was meant to be was bare. A clip was posted online subsequently showing Jake Paul wiping the tattoo off his arm, with the brand revealing it was not real, and Sloth referring to themselves as 'marketing geniuses'. Some responded to the initial posts on social media saying they would have "had the tattoo for free", so now Sloth has challenged people to do just that at an event this Saturday at Au Vodka's headquarters in Swansea.
He said: "Now, after the whole Jake Paul Au Vodka tattoo saga, we've been inundated with messages and comments saying, 'I would have got that tattoo for free'. So now, we're going to give you, the people, the chance to put your money where your mouth is. We're offering you up to £250 cash to come and get an Au Vodka tattoo at the Au Vodka HQ in Swansea this Saturday. Not only are we giving you £250, but we'll be matching that and giving an additional £250 per tattoo to local charity Maggie's."
The event will be held at the headquarters of Au Vodka on Saturday, March 11. It is being referred to as 'The TattAU Parlour' and will start from 12 noon. Each person given the tattoo will receive £250, and the company has said it will match the amount and donate another £250 to cancer charity Maggie's for each tattoo. Au Vodka can be found at Cwmdu Industrial Estate, Swansea, SA5 8JF. Those interested are being encouraged to turn up early, as huge queues are expected.
