Attempted murder probe after man found injured in Salford park

Police have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was found injured in a Salford park on February 14.

Officers were called to the scene at Clarendon Park just after 11am, initially responding to reports of a 'concern for the welfare of a man' at the park off West High Street. The man was taken to hospital from the scene and remains in a stable condition.

Detectives investigating the assault have now confirmed that they have since arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder, who is in custody for questioning.

After responding to the incident, a footpath leading into the park from West High Street was taped off, with multiple police vehicles and officers pictured on the scene.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "On Tuesday 14 February 2023, officers attended Clarendon Park in Salford over concerns for the welfare of a man. He was taken to hospital with head injuries, but he remains in a stable condition.

"Today, (Thursday 2 March), Greater Manchester Police have arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of attempt murder. He remains in police custody for questioning."
