ATP: Carlos Alcaraz Reveals 2025 Goal, A Novak Djokovic Sighting

The ATP Finals begin on Sunday, November 10, 2024.  Carlos Alcaraz is among the players competing for the end-of-year title.  Alcaraz is looking ahead to his 2025 goals and has one definitely in mind.

Meanwhile, two-time ATP Finals defending champion Novak Djokovic is noticeably absent, withdrawing from the event he has won a record seven times due to injury.  Even though Djokovic is not in Turin with his peers, he was spotted on a tennis court elsewhere.

Carlos Alcaraz’s 2025 ATP Goal

Alcaraz has won four Grand Slam titles: one at the French Open, two at Wimbledon, and one at the US Open.  An Australian Open title is noticeably absent from the 21-year-old World No. 3’s growing resume.  His best finish in Melbourne was as a quarterfinalist in 2024.

Alcaraz wants to win the Australian Open in 2025 to complete the career Grand Slam.  Eight ATP players have won the career Grand Slam.  As expected, they are legends of the sport.  In the 1900s, there were Fred Perry (1935), Don Budge (1938), Rod Laver (1962), Roy Emerson (1964), and Andre Agassi (1999).  In the 2000s, there were the Big Three: Roger Federer (2009), Rafael Nadal (2010), and Novak Djokovic (2016).

If he won the 2025 Australian Open, he would be the first next-generation player to do so after the Big 3. He would commemorate the event with a tattoo as he has done with his other Grand Slams.  This would be a kangaroo tattoo.

The ATP field of top players is deep with talent.  Alcaraz will need to dominate the current World No. 1 and best hardcourt player of the world, defending Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner to have a chance to win Down Under.

Novak Djokovic Is Not At ATP Finals But Spotted On A Tennis Court

Though missed in Turin, a smiling Djokovic was on hand to give the winner’s trophy to 2024 Belgrade Open Champion Denis Shapovalov.  Shapovalov is a former World No. 10 who has been injured often in recent years.

He appears to be getting his game back on track.  Winning the Belgrade ATP title and getting the trophy from Serbia’s most famous tennis player and the greatest of all time are great ways to end Shapovalov’s 2024 season.
