Atomic Kitten 'defrosted' in World Cup video as they back England ahead of France tie

Atomic Kitten have thawed out just in time to get behind England tonight with a brilliant video backing the Three Lions against France.

The girl group have been 'defrosted' before they once again take to the stage to perform the football inspired version of their hit song Whole Again.

Bandmembers Natasha Hamilton and Liz McClarnon are seen warming up the vocal cords for an emergency performance ahead of the massive quarter final later on.

The 90s hitmakers star in Paddy Power’s latest World Cup video.

Atomic Kitten first recorded the footy version of their hit 2000 track re-titled Southgate You're The One (Football's Coming Home Again) during the Euros last summer.

The girls - sporting banned rainbow armbands - are woken from the freezing slumber as sirens go off in a secret undercover laboratory when technicians realise England are into the last eight.

“It’s England. They’re in the quarter final of the World Cup,” one says as the alarms ring as he inserts the secret code.

Natasha and Liz warm up and after being told the news and that they were needed to bring the country together again.

Liz says: "OK mate, whatever!"

Natasha beams, rubbing her hands: "'It's time to make some cash again!"

She then asks what's been going on with then Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

They were then told of the political turmoil as Liz yells: "Jesus, how long were we in there?!"

With a sudden jolt, the girls realise their third group member, Jenny Frost, isn’t with them as the lab worker explains that she’s “ironically” still defrosting.

Bookie Paddy joked: “Ex-bandmate Kerry Katona isn’t the only one who knows her way around a frozen section.

"The band have been tucked away nicely, ready for this moment, so now it’s time for England to put in a performance that equals the genius of replacing the word ‘baby’ with ‘Southgate’ in Whole Again.”

Natasha previously explained how the group found their way into football fans' hearts.

She said: "Way back in 2018 myself and Liz started getting sent all these random videos of large groups of men drunk in pubs singing Whole Again, but the Southgate version. And at the time we just thought it was funny and didn't think much more of it.

"And over the past few years, it's been a bit of a slow burner and once the Euros started, that was it! We were inundated with videos.

"But the crowds just got bigger and bigger and bigger with each video and here we are."

The band rerecorded the hit given the response to the Euros chants - much to the upset of Kerry Katona.

Kerry shared her upset after the trio headed into the recording studio to lay down the special version of the single while she was abroad in Marbella.

A close friend of the star exclusively told The Sun Online: "Kerry is heartbroken. She's absolutely gutted that the girls would sing the song without her.

"She always thought they'd get back together and this was the most amazing opportunity for this to happen.

"She's a single mum and has been struggling looking after the kids and the family, so it hurts her a lot to be left out of it."
