Atlanta: 'Two killed after plane tyre explodes' at world's busiest airport

Two people have reportedly been killed after a plane tyre exploded at an Atlanta airport on Tuesday.

The tyre exploded as it was being removed from a plane at the Delta Air Lines operations facility at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, according to media reports.

The airport, in the south-eastern US state of Georgia, is the busiest in the world.

Two workers were reportedly killed and another person injured.

Delta did not immediately respond to a request for confirmation.

Those killed were a Delta employee and a contractor, WSB-TV in Atlanta reported, citing sources. The news outlet reported that the person injured was also a Delta employee.

The aircraft had arrived in Atlanta from Las Vegas on Sunday, the station reported, citing flight information.
