The coaching search continues for the Hornets.
After agreeing to become the next head coach in Charlotte, Warriors assistant Kenny Atkinson has changed his mind.
Reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Atkinson has decided to remain with Golden State on Steve Kerr’s staff, forgoing the opportunity to become the head coach of the Hornets.
ESPN Sources: Kenny Atkinson has decided he won’t become the Charlotte Hornets’ head coach and will remain with Golden State as top assistant. After being offered job during the NBA Finals, further conversations led Atkinson to believe it would be best to remain with Warriors.

Wojnarowski noted that after further conversations with the Hornets, Atkinson felt both ‘professionally and personally’ that it was in his best interest to remain in Golden State.
With Mike Brown leaving to become the head coach of the Sacramento Kings, Atkinson is set to become the top assistant behind Kerr.
Prior to focusing on Atkinson, Mike D’Antoni and Terry Stotts were the other two finalists for the job.
