As Paris gears up for the highly anticipated Olympics opening ceremony next week, French security forces have initiated the process of securing extensive areas in the city center. The lockdown, which commenced at 5 am (0300 GMT) on Thursday, is focused on the central districts along the Seine river, where the opening ceremony will take place.
Spanning a distance of six kilometers (four miles) along the river, the opening ceremony preparations hasve necessitated the closure of most vehicles in the riverside areas. Individuals seeking to enter the "grey zone," the highest-security area along both banks of the Seine, will be required to present a security pass in the form of a QR code. This measure applies to residents and tourists with hotel reservations within the designated zone.
