At What Age Should a Man Stop Trying to Hide His Gray Hair?

At What Age Should a Man Stop Trying to Hide His Gray Hair?
Gray hair doesn’t require a specific retirement age for hair dye. A flattering haircut, subtle color blending, and a manageable grooming routine can help men look sharp whether they embrace silver strands or continue coloring them – Shutterstock

Gray hair creates an oddly specific dilemma for men: dye it, leave it alone, or pretend the bathroom mirror has suddenly become unreliable. There is no magic birthday when a man should stop coloring his hair, but there comes a point when the effort deserves a second look.

For some men, silver hair looks terrific in their 30s. Others prefer coloring their hair well into their 60s. Neither choice requires an apology. The more useful question involves what a man wants his appearance to communicate, how much maintenance he enjoys, and whether his hair color still looks natural. Age can influence that decision, but it shouldn’t make it for him.
