At 99.6%, Mizoram logs highest Covid recovery rate among NE states

AIZAWL: Mizoram's Covid-19 situation has improved following a dip in the daily caseload and active cases, while witnessing the highest recovery rate in the entire northeast region for weeks.

The state logged eight new cases in the last 24 hours and the daily test positivity rate (TPR) was 11.28% as against the national average of 2.76%. Mizoram reported the second highest number of active cases at 184. The recovery rate stood at 99.62%, followed by Arunachal Pradesh at 99.5%.

At 22, Assam logged the highest number of cases among the eight northeastern states, followed by Sikkim at 11 and Mizoram at eight. No Covid-19 related deaths were reported from any of the eight states in the last 24 hours. At least 19,79,142 samples have so far been tested in the state, of which 2,38,051 have tested positive and 2,37,145 have recovered.

According to the date of the state Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme, 722 people have succumbed to the infection till date. Only five patients were admitted at Zoram Medical College, the lone Covid-19 dedicated hospital on Sunday.
