Aston Villa eye loan deal for Manchester United striker Anthony Martial and more transfer rumours

Aston Villa are weighing up a possible loan move for Manchester United striker Anthony Martial, according to reports.

Martial's future at United remains uncertain with Erik ten Hag keen on bringing at least one world-class striker to Old Trafford this summer. The French international has been plagued by injuries again this year but is still the club's joint third highest goalscorer with eight in 27 appearances across all competitions.

Villa have enjoyed a brilliant second half of the season under Unai Emery, who replaced Steven Gerrard as manager in October. There is still hope they can land European football for next year, however plans will likely be in place to upgrade the squad for a genuine push next season.

As such, FootballTransfers reports that the Midlands club are exploring a one-year loan for Martial which would include an option to buy. Emery is keen on adding a versatile frontman to his squad who can play up front or out wide and contribute to goals.

Elsewhere, Football Insider report that United and Brighton will go head-to-head in a battle to sign Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi this summer.

As well as a striker, Ten Hag is looking to reinforce his midfield options, with a number of established European players of interest. But the Dutchman is seemingly also keen on bringing young talent to Old Trafford, with 20-year-old Italian Frattesi the latest reported target.

The midfielder has been an ever-present for Sassuolo this season, registering seven goals in 36 Serie A appearances. However any approach for the young star will face competition from Brighton, also in the market for midfield options with the departures of Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister a possibility.
