CHENNAI: A day after TOI reported how a DMK MLA, K P Shankar, assaulted a Greater Chennai Corporation engineer overseeing a road-laying work, the DMK stripped him of his party post saying he had violated party discipline.
The corporation, however, did not lodge any police complaint, though an inquiry had been conducted in the matter and a report submitted to Commissioner Gagandeep Singh Bedi. Instead, they have sent the engineer on leave and he is in his home town now.
