Assam recorded 17 per cent teenage pregnancy in 2022: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

GUWAHATI: Justifying the crackdown on child marriages, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said that nearly 17 per cent of over 6.2 lakh pregnant women in the state last year were teenagers.

Citing the data from the Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) portal, Sarma said there were 6,20,867 registered pregnant women in 2022.
